Prayer and the Prophetic PART I

I will be writing on How Prayer releases you to the place of hearing the voice of God. We will be looking at specific cases in the Word.

*1. The Case of Jeremiah*

When you sincerely call unto God in prayer, He will sincerely speak to you! When you cry out to God in prayer, He will speak to you in a way that you will know His response.

In Jeremiah 33:3, the prophet speaks about God, saying, _”Call unto me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things which you don’t know’._

-Your work is to call unto God. Your work is to pray. That is your responsibility. No one will do that for you.

– He promises to answer you! Answers are in the hands of God. *You ask the questions, He gives the answers.* This is a promise, and God does not break His promises.

– He promises to show you great things you don’t know. How little we know because of our inconsistency to prayer!

There are great things you don’t know about a lot of things. When you pray, God will reveal them to you!

– The LORD also promises to show unto those who pray, mighty things! Anytime I think about mighty things, I imagine, having global solutions to global problems!

Do you want to hear what God has to say, then commit yourself to the platform of prayer! I see you receiving answers in the name of Jesus!

*2. The Case of Moses*

There are many examples of people praying and hearing God’s voice afterwards, but one of my favorite is Moses’.

Moses had a personal relationship with God. He was a friend of God and talked to God all the time. He prayed all the time. You will be surprised that after he prayed, God always answered…almost immediately!

Consider Exodus 33:11-19. When Moses spoke to God and enquired from Him details concerning their journey to Canaan (Do you ask God for details? Is it too much to ask? Is it too high for Him to do?), God answered him right after he prayed.

Someone may argue, ‘Moses was a special person. That explains this phenomenal privilege’. But that is farther from the truth just like how the North Pole is far from the South Pole!

*God has no favorites.* *We are all His favorites.* Acts 10:34 says, *”Then Peter opened his mouth and said, OF A TRUTH, I SEE THAT GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS”.*

Whatever God did for Moses, He is ever ready to do for you. If Moses heard His voice after he prayed, prepare to hear God’s voice after you pray.

Personally, without sounding boastful, I don’t remember the last time I enquired from the Lord that He didn’t speak. God is a prayer answering God.

I think that among the many other reasons, some of us don’t get answers from God because we don’t expect them. When you finish praying and say ‘Amen’, that is not the end. Wait on Him to speak to you! *WAIT!*

The few who expect them, do not also attach any seriousness to their spiritual relationship with Him. Living in sin will block your spiritual sensitivity.

It is time to change! Invest in what matters! Prayer matters! It is one of the most powerful ways to attract God’s attention to receive His response!

*3. The Case of the Antioch Church*

Prayer is a very powerful vehicle, carrying within it tremendous ability. The force of prayer is one dynamic force that bring your answers speedily.

Believe that whenever you engage God in prayer, you will know what He is saying about a situation.

Once, in the early church at Antioch, the teachers and prophets prayed together and ministered unto the Lord. (I am quite surprised that in our days, teachers and prophets hardly get along. We are immature and ignorant. Forgive.)

*As they were ministering to God, The Holy Spirit spoke to them about their next divine assignment.* They were to separate Paul and Barnabas for His call. (Acts 13:1-3)

Theologians are quite divided on how the Spirit spoke to them.

Some theologians believe that since there were prophets in the meeting, one of them spoke by the inspiration of the Spirit.

Other theologians also opine that the Holy Spirit spoke audibly for the audience to hear Him. Whatever the case, one thing is constant. _God spoke to them._

Hearing His voice directed the lives of the teachers and prophets in Antioch.

How do you decide which business to do? As a husband, how do make critical decisions? Do you watch Steve Harvey’s shows? As a lady, Oprah Winfrey?

How do you decide which academic vision or career path to pursue? How do you decide on the important things in your life?

*This is crucial because taking the wrong decision puts you on the wrong direction, only to your destruction.* That will not be your story!

Many people do not pray about these important decisions. Unfortunately, those who pray too, do not hear what He has to say. May every struggle cease in the name of Jesus!

_The best decisions are those that are made in consultation with wise people. Realize that The Wisest Person you can get on your team is God. Have you enquired from Him what He intends?_

Even the devil asked Eve, “Has God said..?” The devil knows that on important matters, God speaks. How can we then, as believers, ignore this important part of our assignment?

Consider Proverbs 3:5-6. It reads, *”Trust in the LORD, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your path”*

Find out His knowledge in all your ways! When you do, He will give you direction for life. Be wise!
